LA SCALA DI SETA (The Silken Ladder)
By Gioachino Rossini
Peabody Chamber Opera
Rossini's early one-act comedy reveals his emerging comic genius and elevates a farce to new heights -- with the help of a Silken Ladder. Costumes will echo BRIDGERTON, and the production will be abstract as Giulia outsmarts the system to be with her true love.
Written for Venice in 1812, prepare for zippy patter, endearing arias, momentous ensembles, and sparkling characters sung by the latest class of Peabody Singers.
Laurie Rogers conducts a chamber orchestra. Garnett Bruce directs two alternating casts.
In Italian with English titles above the stage. Libretto by Giuseppe Foppa.
